Live Oak Natural Beef is raised by the Jones family on our family farm located on beautiful Mustang Creek in Central Texas.  We started raising beef for our family (we have three young sons) in 2005.  We decided to raise an extra calf or two for friends along with our own.  Demand has steadily grown.

Our free range Angus cross cattle graze in pastures planted in grass/legume mixes.   We do not use herbicides or pesticides on our pastures. The calves are raised on pasture.  They are given very limited grain as a supplement only during poor range conditions.  The result of our old-fashioned method is delicious, tender, flavorful, heart-healthy, all natural, grass-fed beef.

Our goal is to provide your family great value on delicious, healthy grass-fed beef so that our farm will become your family's long-term beef supplier.  COMPARE prices.  We believe you will be hard-pressed to find a better value for grass-fed beef.

MEAT PACKAGING
You fill out your cutting order (or call and give your instructions to the processor over the phone) and pay for your own processing.  You work directly with the processor.

You may choose the way you would like your beef packaged.  For example, you can choose how many pounds of stew meat, hamburger and chili meat you want cut.    You choose the thickness of your steaks.   You choose if you want the roasts whole or cut into steaks.  You choose the sizes of your roasts – 1 pound to 5 pound.
You choose how many pounds you want in each package of steaks, stew meat, etc.

Roasts and Steaks are vacuum-packed.  Ground beef is tube packed.

To give you an idea how much freezer space you need, one whole beef is approximately 300 pounds of packaged meat.  The beef is packaged in boxes that measure 20x14x10.  One beef is usually packaged in about 6 boxes.

The beef is quick-frozen and stays frozen well at delivery.

Beef can last up to 3 years in the freezer.  However, most families will use a half-beef in 6 months to 1 year.  It is most economical and convenient to have healthy natural beef in your freezer at any given time.  We have compared prices with other natural beef sources in order to give you a very competitive price for high quality natural, pastured, grass-fed beef.

As you fill out your cutting order, and then with a freezer full of beef, you will want to start thinking about creative ways to use your beef.   Homemade jerky, breakfast sausage (just add seasoning to hamburger), crock pot roast, etc....

Tips for Using your Beef.

WHY GRASS-FED BEEF IS HEALTHY

Grass-fed beef is naturally leaner than grain-fed beef.

Omega 3s in beef that feed on grass is 7% of the total fat content, compared to 1% in grain-only fed beef.

Omega 3 fatty acids are essential for normal growth and may play an important role in the prevention and treatment of heart disease, cancer, arthritis and other diseases.

Grass-fed beef is loaded with other natural minerals and vitamins, plus it's a great source of CLA (conjugated linoleic acid) a fat that reduces the risk of cancer, obesity, diabetes, and a number of immune disorders.

What is the healthiest meat you can eat?  A nice, lean chicken breast from your supermarket?  Think again!  Meat from a pasture-fed cow has about the same amount of total fat as the chicken breast, but more omega-3 fatty acids and CLA and less cholesterol.  It's a healthier package overall.  Plus the pasture-fed beef does NOT have the additives, hormones, or antibiotics that the supermarket chicken is loaded with.

WHY GRASS-FED BEEF IS HEALTHIER THAN ORGANIC

Organic meats may be free of chemicals, but does not give the omega-3 rich diet of grass-fed animals.

"Many people confuse pasture-raised animal products with organic products. An organic label does not guarantee that animals spent most of their time on pasture. It simply means the animals had access to pasture, weren't given antibiotics, hormonal implants or injections, and their feed whether grass, hay or grain was organically certified. These rules allow organic meat and dairy producers to feed their animals significant amounts of grain, a proven way to speed their growth and increase milk production. The more grain in a ruminant's diet, however, the lower the amount of omega-3s, CLA, vitamin E and betacarotene in their products." Jo Robinson, author of the book "Pasture Perfect".

"Aside from ethical and environmental concerns, feedlots have come under criticism for human health reasons. The tissues of feedlot-raised cattle have far more saturated fat than that of grass-fed cattle, some sources say up to 500 percent more." (Wikipedia,
